Why seeing a Chiropractor is important?

Minor back and neck pain can be symptoms of what is called Subluxation Degeneration or Pinched Nerves. When proper spinal function is compromised a serious degenerative process is set in motion and if neglected gets worst with time. X-ray views of the spine can be used to identify if you have any problems in your spine.

Subluxation Degeneration is a relentless degenerative process associated with the Vertebral Subluxation Complex. It can be caused by uncorrected physical trauma, emotional stress, or chemical imbalance. If neglected, calcium deposition reduces joint mobility and makes complete correction difficult.

Problems in your spine can lead to spinal decay.

Healthy Normal
Proper spinal curves permit normal turning and bending. Openings between joints allow nerve roots to exit the spine without interference. The edges of the bones are smooth and well defined. Equal disk spacing is sign of healthy spinal function.

Phase One
Loss of normal curves and misalignment restrict or exaggerate normal ranges of motion. Ligament and muscle strength is reduced. Even with nerve irritation and soft tissue inflammation, pain or other obvious symptoms may not be present.

Phase Two
Years of accumulated calcium deposition are now visible. One spurs attempt to fuse malfunctioning joints. Adjacent surfaces are rough and uneven. Joint instability is accompanied by continued nerve irritation and disc degeneration.

Phase Three
After years of neglect, complete fusion has immobilized the joint. Obstructed nerve openings cause permanent nerve irritation as soft tissue degeneration continues. This irreversible condition is usually associated with other chronic health problems.

Symptoms
This slow decay is especially serious because pain or other obvious symptoms may not be present until this condition is well advanced. The reduced range of motion, scar tissue, and nervous system irritation can impair the health and function of other tissues, organs, and systems of your body.

Physiology
The body treats the restricted motion and soft tissue damage of a malfunctioning spinal joint like a broken bone. It responds by depositing calcium on adjacent joint surfaces, attempting to splint them together. Given enough time, bone spurs, fusion, and an irreversible condition results.

Correction
An effective form of care is specific chiropractic adjustments. These help return spinal bones to their normal position and motion. Repeated adjustments help restrain the supporting muscles and ligaments. With better joint bio-mechanics the normal healing process can begin.

Prognosis
Because the damage of Subluxation Degeneration gets worst with time, early detection and correction is essential. If detected in childhood, the process can often be reversed and permanent deformity avoided. When found in adults, improving or correcting joint function is hoped to slow, stop, or reverse this degenerative process.

What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a treatment method that assists the body to promote natural healing and to improve functioning. This procedure is done by inserting very thin needles at precise acupuncture points. Heat and Electrical stimulation may also be applied over the needles to increase the effects of the acupuncture treatment. Acupuncture can also be done without needles  using the heat and electrical methods.
How does Acupuncture work?

According to the ancient Chinese theory, channels of energy called meridians run in regular patterns throughout the entire body. Meridians flow like rivers through the body to nourish the tissues. However, a disturbance in the flow of this energy can back up in part of the body like a dam and restrict it from moving. The acupuncture treatment restores the proper movement of this energy and allows healing of the corrupted tissue.

Cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiation are often fatigued, experience a lack of appetite and weight loss, and may become depressed. For cancer patients experiencing these and other side effects, acupuncture is extremely beneficial.    read more

The Chiropractic Lifestyle
Chiropractors are experts in the care of the bones, nerves, muscles and connective tissues that make up about 60% of your body. All of the joints in your body are part of this musculo-skeletal system and its optimal function is necessary for overall good health. Ask your Doctor of Chiropractic for more information about a care program that may include specific spinal adjustments, exercise recommendations, nutritional advice or other conservative methods of care based on your health history, age, current condition and lifestyle.

The Doctor of Chiropractic is effective in preventative and wellness care.
The anatomical focus of Doctor of Chiropractic on the human spine has created the perception of the Doctor of Chiropractic as just a "back doctor."
